Cars with a loan
Lots of people sell a car before the loan is paid off. That's completely normal. In Texas, the lender (the "lienholder") is listed on the title, and the loan has to be paid off before the title can transfer. We take care of that part.
How it works
- Get your payoff amount. Call your lender or check your online account for the "10-day payoff" — that's different from your balance.
- Get our offer. Fill out the form above and mention the lender and payoff amount in the notes.
- We pay the lender directly. If our offer is more than what you owe, you get the difference — that's your equity.
- The lien is released. The lender releases its lien and the title transfers. We walk you through any paperwork.
What if I owe more than the car is worth?
That's called being "upside down" or having negative equity. You can still sell — you'd just cover the gap between our offer and your payoff. Many people do this to get out from under a high monthly payment or insurance bill. We'll show you the numbers up front so there are no surprises.
What to have ready
- Lender name and account number
- Your 10-day payoff amount
- Your driver's license and the car's keys
